Joomla Basics

from:

Jomla has won awards. It’s no coincidence or stroke of luck that this open source system for managing website concept has achieved such acclaim. With it, users can quickly construct websites and populate it with whatever type of content they wish. No website design skill or even real IT knowledge is needed to make websites with Joomla.

Joomla may be open source but it also comes with many extensions which can either be free or commercial. These allow you to manage your web pages very easily, without the need for professional help. In this way, Joomla is quite revolutionary and empowering in the internet world.

Joomla allows you to have blogs, galleries, forums, guest books and even shopping carts. Joomla websites can be fully usable as a secure commercial website. Everything is presented graphically so is quite easy to understand and quite intuitive.

In Joomla, content is organized simply with the minimum of hassle for you into content items, sections and categories. Everything is stored in a mySQL database.

There are many Joomla templates which you could use to build attractive and multi-functional websites. Each of these templates is split into zones and the zones have module positions which say where they appear on a page. That sounds complicated but basically it gives you complete freedom to move these modules around by changing module parameters. Then you add your content exactly where you want it to appear on your webpage.

No longer will you have to know anything about HTML in order to build yourself a great website. You just need to learn the simple steps for installing Joomla and you can make it even easier to build an attractive and fully functional website by using one of their free websites.

You can extend the functionality of your website with Joomla Components or Mabots. Components are add-on programs and a Mambot is a script you run on your Joomla pages before entering your content.

You can have faster CSS templates through Joomla, which minimizes the use of tables. This means you have less trouble validating W3C standards and your website is also much quicker to load. Joomla’s CSS templates tend to be much more search engine friendly and as a consequence are ranked higher, which of course if very good news for you.

Web design is pretty easy and varied with Joomla. You can have a lot of control over the complexity or simplicity of the website design, as is most appropriate to your particular needs. You can even run online marketplaces with Joomla templates, as well as more simple corporate websites, school websites or institutional websites. Of course, Joomla can also used to build your own personal website. It is simple enough for everyone to be able to use, with its online tutorials.Joomla websites grow with you, as add-on features are easily incorporated, to give additional functionality. There is also great inline support for people using Joomla websites, either from official sources or from online communities of users wishing to share their experiences and knowledge. It’s no wonder that Joomla websites are so popular.
